Cultivating Peace: A Student Research Symposium for Violence Prevention

This event is a symposium where undergraduate and graduate students can submit proposals in a variety of topics surrounding peace and nonviolence.

Justice Studies Presents: HOW I BECAME

A lecture presented by Brennan Gilmore.

After he filmed the infamous video of a car plowing into a crowd during the Unite the Right Rally in Charlottesville, Brennan Gilmore spoke out in the media about what he witnessed while protesting the alt-right and the unique danger of white supremacy. Following his media appearances, Brennan was targeted by conspiracy theories and death threats. His family’s address was published on neo-Nazi in Charlottesville were part of a “Deep State” plot to destabilize the country.

Brennan will discuss his experiences in Charlottesville, how he became “fake new,” and the dangers of conspiracy theories from both a personal societal standpoint.
